The Saudi-led military coalition has claimed that four drones approaching Saudi Arabia were destroyed in the air over Medina and the kingdom’s eastern regions.
According to a coalition military spokesperson, the drones were intercepted and destroyed before reaching their intended targets. Further details about the origin of the drones have not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, Yemeni government forces have claimed that 558 Houthi militia fighters were killed and 135 military vehicles belonging to the group were destroyed within 24 hours. The forces said the operations halted the Houthis’ advance in Taiz province.
In a separate development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that neither Saudi Arabia nor Yemen’s Houthis had responded to Iran’s offer to mediate between the two sides.
Speaking to Iraqi television, Araqchi said the mediation offer was made earlier this month, following an increase in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
