Pakistan and China have signed several agreements worth 440 million dollars in the field of pharmaceutical industry.
The agreements were signed between Pakistani and Chinese pharmaceutical companies at a Pakistan-China Business-to-Business investment conference in Islamabad today.
Addressing the conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that the agreements would soon translate into practical projects and implementation, describing them as another important step forward in promoting CPEC 2.0.
He said the participation of around 300 Chinese delegates in the conference reflects the unwavering commitment of both countries to expanding economic and commercial cooperation.
Highlighting the significance of the pharmaceutical partnership, Shehbaz Sharif said collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese companies would help promote the manufacturing of life-saving medicines and vaccines, strengthen research and development, and enable Pakistan to emerge as a regional centre of excellence for pharmaceutical exports.
Referring to the prevailing regional situation, the Prime Minister said the ongoing crisis has caused significant disruption not only in the region but across the world. He said Pakistan has played an important role in promoting dialogue and mediation between the United States and Iran.
