Trump Threatens Iran with Attack, Says an Agreement Is Also Possible

Latest world

US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States could launch an attack on Iran as early as tomorrow; however, Tehran could still avoid further military action by reaching an agreement.

According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, Donald Trump told reporters that the US is considering the option of attacking Iran, and that such action could potentially take place as soon as tomorrow. He noted that the US wishes to reach an agreement with Iran, though the question remains whether or not Tehran would abide by such an accord.

Trump stated that the US objective is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons in the future. He remarked that even previous US operations—involving B-2 bombers—could not guarantee that this objective had been permanently secured.

The US President added that the US might take further action to resolve the matter definitively, or Iran might agree to a deal; in either scenario, he asserted, the US would emerge successful.

Meanwhile, the American newspaper The New York Times, citing US officials and individuals familiar with the planning, has reported that US and Israeli forces have developed a plan for potential strikes against Iran, formulated following the US midterm elections.

It is worth noting that Pakistan and Qatar have undertaken diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict and de-escalating tensions between the US and Iran. According to reports, these efforts led to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two nations in Islamabad this June; however, the negotiation process subsequently stalled due to disagreements over various issues, including the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
